Archiving and managing Live Intake templates

Archive a Live Intake template to take it out of the picker without deleting it. Past Submissions that used it keep their data. Archived templates can be restored at any time.

Updated Apr 29, 2026 For agency admin

In short: Click Archive Template to hide a template from the picker. Past Submissions keep their data. Click Restore Template to bring it back.

When to archive

Archive a Live Intake template when:

  • You’ve replaced it with a newer version and don’t want agents picking the old one by mistake.
  • The line of business or workflow it supported is no longer active.
  • It was a one-off (e.g. for a specific campaign or carrier appetite) and is no longer needed.

Archive is non-destructive. The template structure and any history it has is preserved. You can bring it back later.

Archive a template

  1. 1

From the Live Intake templates list, open the template you want to archive.

  2. 2

    Click Archive Template.

  3. 3

The template moves to the archived view; agents no longer see it in the Live Intake picker for new sessions.

There’s no extra confirmation step.

What happens to existing Submissions

Submissions that used the template before it was archived are unaffected:

  • All captured data is preserved.
  • The Submission shows up in your Submissions list normally.
  • You can still open, edit, and act on those Submissions.

What changes is forward behavior: the template stops appearing in the picker for new Live Intake sessions.

Restore a template

  1. 1

From the Live Intake templates page, switch the filter to All Templates (or the equivalent that shows archived).

  2. 2

    Open the archived template.

  3. 3

    Click Restore Template.

  4. 4

The template returns to the active list and is selectable in the picker again.

Restoring keeps the template’s structure as it was when archived — including any steps and sections. If you want to update it, edit it after restoring.

Templates that aren’t usable yet

Separate from archive, SALT shows an Invalid template state for any template that has no active steps:

Without any activated steps, the template will not be available in Live Intake.

These won’t appear in the picker even though they’re not archived. Add at least one active step (or archive the template) to fix the state.

Common questions

Will agents mid-session lose access if I archive the template? No. Archive only affects future picker visibility. An agent already in a Live Intake session keeps going.

Is there a way to delete a template entirely? Archive is the standard customer-facing path. Hard delete would orphan structure references on past Submissions. If you’re certain you want a template fully removed, contact support.

Can I see a list of Submissions that used an archived template? Yes. In the Submissions list, filter by Live Intake template (where supported) or look at the template field on individual Submissions.

Why is “Archive Template” greyed out for one of my templates? You may not have permission to manage Live Intake templates on your agency. Check with an admin or review your role’s permissions.
