SALT Privacy & Security Overview
At SALT, protecting your data and ensuring compliance with industry regulations are our top priorities. In this article, you’ll find key details on our privacy policy, security measures, data collection policies, and compliance updates.
Privacy & Security Resources:
🔐 General Privacy & Security
Social Security Numbers
SALT does not collect, store, or process Social Security Numbers (SSNs) due to the high risk of identity fraud and associated liability. While some carriers require SSNs, SALT does not support or assume responsibility for handling this sensitive information.
Although users may attempt to collect SSNs via custom fields, our team is actively working to block all fields from accepting SSNs to maintain security.
If carriers require SSNs, we strongly recommend that agencies consult them directly for secure collection methods, as SALT cannot provide guidance or support for this process.
Removal of PII from Email Notifications
To safeguard user privacy, SALT automatically removes Personally Identifiable Information (PII) from all email notifications. This ensures that sensitive information does not get exposed through email channels, which are often vulnerable to unauthorized access.
TCPA Compliance
To ensure compliance with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), SALT has implemented the following methods in our consent process:
- SMS Consent Statement for Prospects - This is displayed at the beginning of every SALT Form, ensuring prospects understand and agree to communication policies upfront.
- Agency TOS & Privacy Policy URLs - In the Settings > Branding section, there is a field available to enter your agency's Terms of Service URL and/or Privacy Policy. Once your custom link is entered, it'll appear in the disclaimer pictured above.
- SMS Consent Statement for Employees - This is displayed when SALT employees enter or update their phone number in their SALT profile.
These changes clarify that our policy applies to both SALT customers and affiliated companies, covering both your agency and your prospects.
For full details, please review our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
ℹ️ Form and Data Security (Permissions, Filters, and Spam Protection)
SALT Employee Permissions
SALT offers role-based permissions to help account admins & owners manage team access with clarity and control. Admins/Owners can configure these permissions to:
- Assign roles based on user responsibilities
- Control access to specific features and actions
- Manage whether users can view all submissions or only those assigned to them, based on their role
For a full breakdown of permissions and how to configure them, admins/owners can refer to their Employees section.
Controlling Who Can Submit Your Form
SALT provides two steps that can be added to your Forms to ensure secure, authentic entries:
- Contact Verification: This step can be added to your form to require prospects to verify access to their mobile phone, helping confirm their identity and prevent unauthorized submissions.
- State Filter: This step allows agents to limit form submissions to users in specific states, helping ensure responses come only from the intended geographic areas.
Spam Mitigation Tools
To protect against spam and unauthorized access, SALT offers a comprehensive suite of spam mitigation tools:
- (Backend) Spam Blocker: An aggressive IP blocker that prevents known bad IP addresses from accessing SALT forms.
- Spam Filter: This tool checks a subset of conditions to identify and filter out spam submissions.
- Google reCAPTCHA: This frontline tool helps ensure that users are human by requiring them to complete a CAPTCHA test, although it may not always be 100% effective.
