How the trial works (and what happens when it ends)
Trials let you use SALT before committing to a paid plan. When the trial ends, your access to billable features stops until you pick a plan and complete payment. Your data is retained while you decide, per the standard data retention policy.
In short: Use SALT freely during your trial. When it ends, you’ll need to pick a plan and provide payment to continue. Your data is preserved while you decide; access pauses until you complete enrollment.
What a trial includes
During a trial:
- Full feature access at the trial’s tier
- Ability to create Forms, Links, Submissions
- Connect integrations
- Upload documents
- Run Live Intake
Some limits may apply (e.g. capped Submission count, restricted integrations) depending on the trial configuration. The trial is a real preview — what you build during the trial is yours when you convert.
What happens at the end
When your trial period ends without enrollment:
- Sign-in still works, but you’ll be redirected to a plan-selection / billing page
- You can’t create new Submissions or use billable features until enrollment is complete
- Past Submissions and Forms are preserved
- Integrations may pause (depending on configuration)
This is silent in some respects — there’s no automatic downgrade and no immediate data loss. The app simply puts up a paywall until you choose a plan and pay.
Pre-trial-end notifications
You’ll receive email reminders as the trial nears its end. These tell you:
- How many days are left
- What plan you’d default to if you don’t change
- A link to the enrollment flow
Don’t ignore these. Picking a plan before expiration ensures continuity.

What happens to data
If you don’t convert by the end of the trial:
- Short-term: data is preserved, you just can’t access it until you enroll
- Long-term: per the data retention policy, eventually data may be deleted if no enrollment occurs within a defined window
To export data before walking away from the trial:
- Bulk-export Submissions
- Document your Form structures
- Save any documents uploaded to Submissions you want to keep
Trial extensions
Need more time? Contact support before the trial ends. Extensions are at SALT’s discretion but are generally available for legitimate evaluation needs.
After expiration, an extension may not be possible — enrollment is the path back.
Common questions
Will I be charged automatically when the trial ends? Standard trials don’t auto-charge. You explicitly enroll in a plan to start being charged.
Can I downgrade my trial to start at a smaller plan? Trials usually run at a specific tier. When you enroll, you pick the plan you want — it doesn’t have to match the trial’s tier.
My trial just ended and I lost access mid-call. What do I do? Enroll quickly — the flow takes a few minutes. Once active, your access resumes and you can pick up the conversation.
Can my colleagues see during the trial that we’re on a trial? Trial banners and notifications are visible to admins. Non-admin users may not see anything different — they just have full access.
