Tracking Data Credit usage

The Data Credit usage view breaks down consumption by vendor and date range. Use it to identify cost drivers and forecast future usage. Detailed Reports access (with deeper breakdowns) is on Middle Market and Custom plans.

In short: Open Data Credits to see balance and recent usage. For per-vendor and per-date breakdowns, the Data Credit Usage report (Middle Market and above) gives the deeper view.

Where to look

Two places to track usage:

  • Data Credits page (billing) — current balance, recent activity, auto-reload status. Available on every plan.
  • Reports → Data Credit Usage — per-vendor breakdown, date ranges, charts. Available on plans that include Reports (Middle Market and Custom).

What you’ll see

On the Data Credits page

  • Current credit balance
  • Recent debits (per Submission, per vendor)
  • Recent credits (purchases, gifts, refunds)
  • Auto-reload settings
  • Per-vendor monthly thresholds

This is enough for day-to-day visibility. For deeper analysis, use the Report.

In the Data Credit Usage report

  • Usage broken down by vendor (Estated, Fenris, MeasureOne, etc.)
  • Usage by date range — pick a window and see consumption trends
  • Per-Submission attribution where applicable
  • Comparisons across periods

Use it to identify which vendor is your biggest cost, which time periods are high-consumption, and how usage trends over time.

Why understanding usage matters

A few patterns commonly emerge:

  • One vendor dominates — usually MeasureOne, since dec pages are richer pulls. Knowing this lets you set the per-vendor threshold to control cost.
  • Spike periods — campaign launches, partner activations, seasonal flows. Forecast the next spike from past data.
  • Failed-pull cost — a pull that errors may still consume credits depending on the vendor. Tracking helps you spot integration issues that quietly burn credits.

Setting per-vendor monthly limits

If a vendor is consuming more than you’d like, set a monthly threshold on that integration. The vendor pauses for the rest of the month when the threshold is hit, regardless of your overall balance.

Common questions

Why don’t I see Reports → Data Credit Usage? Your plan doesn’t include Reports. Upgrade to Middle Market or above to unlock. The basic Data Credits page is still available.

Can I export the Data Credit usage data? Where supported, yes — most reports include an export option. Export and analyze in your spreadsheet tool of choice.

Is there a way to predict next month’s spend? Look at the trailing 3 months as a rough projection. If nothing’s changing in your campaigns or integration setup, near-term usage usually tracks closely.

Why is my balance dropping faster than my pull count suggests? Different vendors have different per-pull costs. A few MeasureOne pulls (1.6-2.0 credits each) burn faster than many Estated pulls. Check the per-vendor breakdown.
