How HawkSoft differs from raters

SALT’s raters (like EZLynx) push data over the wire automatically once a Submission completes. HawkSoft works differently: it produces HawkSoft’s proprietary CMSMTF file format that you download and import yourself.

That means:

• Nothing is sent automatically. No data leaves SALT until someone downloads a file. There’s no background sync and no per-Form toggle.
• It’s a manual step per Submission, done whenever you’re ready to move that prospect into HawkSoft.
• You can download as many times as you want. Each file contains the Submission’s data as of the moment you download it, so re-download after making edits to get the latest.

Before you start

• You need a SALT admin to enable HawkSoft and assign producer codes (below). Once it’s enabled, any team member can download files from a Submission.
• HawkSoft must be enabled for your Team in Integrations.

Enable HawkSoft

   From the main nav, click Integrations.

   Find HawkSoft and open it.

   Click Enable Hawksoft.

Once enabled, the HawkSoft integration pane shows the usage instructions and the producer-code grid.

Set producer codes

gen_sProducer is a 3-letter HawkSoft producer identifier. Assign each team member their code so HawkSoft attributes the imported policy to the right producer. When a Submission is assigned to a team member, their code is written into the CMSMTF file automatically.

   Open Integrations → HawkSoft.

   In the producer-code grid, enter each team member’s 3-letter HawkSoft producer identifier (from your HawkSoft user list).

   Save. Codes apply to every file downloaded from that point on.

Download a CMSMTF file

   Open the Submission you want to send to HawkSoft.

   Switch to the Lines Of Business tab.

   Click Hawksoft in the sidebar under Third-Party Integrations.

   In the dialog, click Download next to the policy you want (Home, Auto, or both).

   Import the downloaded .CMSMTF file into HawkSoft.

Notes:

• SALT only offers the policies present on the Submission — a monoline home Submission shows only a Home file.
• The home file includes boats (watercraft) if any are present on the Submission.
• Each file contains only the data saved to the Submission at download time. Edit the Submission and re-download to refresh.

What transfers

The CMSMTF file carries SALT’s standard, structured data:

• Client/contact information (name, address, phone, email)
• Insured and driver records
• Vehicle records (make, model, year, VIN, garaging address)
• Property records (characteristics and coverages)
• Coverage limits and deductibles

HawkSoft has a fixed field format. Data outside that format doesn’t transfer:

• Most Custom Questions — unless a field is explicitly mapped, the answer stays in SALT
• Non-standard text fields
• Response data from other integrations
• Premiums, fees, and commercial-lines data (SALT is personal-lines intake, not a rater)

Address resolution

Auto policies: uses the property address if a home flow is included and the property has an address; otherwise uses the primary insured’s current address. Each vehicle’s garaging zip uses that vehicle’s own address when present.

Home policies: uses the property address if available; otherwise falls back to the primary insured’s current address.

Formatting notes

• Coverage limits are cleaned to remove currency symbols and formatting before writing to the file
• Dates are formatted as MM/DD/YYYY
• Boolean fields write as “Yes”/”No” (auto) or “Y”/”N” (home), matching HawkSoft’s per-line format
• Phone numbers are written as-is — no formatting is applied by SALT

Troubleshooting

• No HawkSoft option on the Submission? HawkSoft must be enabled for your Team in Integrations.
• Only one policy file offered? SALT only builds files for the policies present on the Submission. A monoline Submission has a single file.
• Missing or wrong producer on import? Check that the assigned team member has a producer code set in Integrations → HawkSoft, then re-download.
• Data looks out of date? The file reflects the Submission at download time. Edit the Submission and download again.

Common questions

Does HawkSoft sync automatically like a rater? No. HawkSoft produces a CMSMTF file you download and import yourself. Nothing is sent until you download.

Can I download the file more than once? Yes. Download as often as you like — each file reflects the Submission’s data at that moment.

Why doesn’t my Custom Question data appear in HawkSoft? The CMSMTF format has a fixed field set. Custom Questions don’t automatically map. If a specific Custom Question needs to transfer, contact support.

Does HawkSoft count against my Data Credits? No. Data Credits cover paid lookups (property data, dec pages). Building a CMSMTF file doesn’t consume Data Credits.
