Exporting Submission data
Single-Submission export gives you a downloadable file (CSV or PDF depending on configuration) of one Submission's full data. Custom Questions marked as sensitive require export consent before they appear in exports. For many Submissions at once, see Bulk export.
In short: Open the Submission and use the export action. CSV or PDF (where available). Sensitive Custom Questions require an export consent step before they’ll appear in the file.
What gets exported
A single-Submission export typically includes:
- All answered questions and their values
- Insureds, drivers, vehicles, properties (line-of-business records)
- Documents (links or attachments depending on format)
- Status, Tags, assignee, timestamps
- Custom Questions — subject to consent rules, see below
What’s typically not included:
- Internal Notes and Comments (can be configured for your agency)
- Integration response payloads in raw form (they’re surfaced in the UI but may not export by default)
Export a single Submission
-
1
Open the Submission.
-
2
Use the export action (commonly an action menu item).
-
3
Pick the format if multiple are available (CSV, PDF).
-
4
The file downloads (or, for slow exports, is emailed when ready).
Custom Questions and export consent
Custom Questions marked as sensitive (or marked for export consent) won’t appear in exports until your agency has accepted the consent prompt.
If your Custom Question data is missing from an export:
- Check whether the Custom Question is marked as requiring consent.
- If it is, accept the consent prompt — usually presented before the first export.
- Re-run the export. The data should now appear.
This is a deliberate guardrail to prevent accidental exposure of sensitive agency-collected data. See Custom Question security for the full picture.
Format choice
| Format | Best for |
|---|---|
| CSV | Importing into a spreadsheet, AMS, or another data tool |
| Sharing with a colleague or external party for human reading |
CSV is the default for downstream automation. PDF is the default for human handoff.
Audit trail on exports
Each export logs who exported, when, and the IP address. An admin can review export activity if needed — useful for compliance and security audits.
Common questions
Why is my Custom Question’s data not in the export? The Custom Question is likely marked as sensitive and requires export consent. Accept the consent prompt and re-export. See Custom Question security.
Can I export only some fields, not all? Single-Submission export is full-record. For selective field export, use bulk export with a column selection (where supported), or export to CSV and filter columns in your spreadsheet tool.
Will exporting trigger a consumer notification? No. Exports are internal and don’t notify the consumer.
The export downloaded but it’s empty. Confirm the Submission has data (incomplete Submissions may have only partial data). Check whether sensitive fields are gated by consent. If neither, contact support — could be a known issue.
