Links 101: Getting Started

Links let you create multiple, customized entry points within a single SALT Form. Each Link can have its own introductory textreferral image, and purpose, making it easy to tailor the experience for different audiences—without duplicating the form.

While the stepsconfirmationsreminders, and integrations are shared from the parent Form, each Link includes its own settings such as nameassignmentnotificationsbrandingOpen Graph data, and embed options—giving you control over how each Link is presented and delivered.

Links are nested within the Form and can be edited, shared, or archived individually, offering flexibility and organization in one streamlined setup.

Accessing Links

  1. Navigate to the Forms section.
  2. Select the Form you want to manage links for.
  3. Switch over to the Links tab within the form.

Getting Started with Links

To create a new Link, click the “New Link” button and enter the Name and Assignee. You’ll be taken directly to that Link’s Settings page, where you can adjust its individual settings.

To edit an existing Link, locate it in the "Links" section associated with that Form and click the “Settings” button. From there, you can update the Link’s details.

↪ Link Settings

To configure a Link’s Name, Assignment, Notifications, Branding, Open Graph, or Embed options, open a Form, go to the Links tab, and click Settings next to the Link you want to edit.

When creating multiple Links, we recommend customizing a unique Introduction and Referral Image for each one. This helps ensure consumers receive tailored messaging based on the specific Link they’re using.

Unlike other Link settings, the Intro and Referral Image are not located in the Link’s main Settings panel. Instead, they are managed within the Form’s Introduction step, found in the Steps tab.

⚙️ Setting Up the Intro and Referral Image for a Link:

  1. Navigate to the Form’s Steps tab
  2. Select the Introduction step from the [Intro] category
  3. Use the Link dropdown to choose the Link you want to customize
  4. Edit the Intro text and Referral Image as needed

This custom introduction text will be displayed when the link is accessed, helping to provide context and information specific to that link.

↪ Link Assignee & Notifications

When a Link is assigned to a user, that person is automatically set to receive all related notification updates. If the Link is reassigned to someone else, the new assignee will begin receiving notifications by default—but the original assignee will still continue to receive them unless manually removed.

To adjust who receives notifications, go to the Link’s Settings > Assignment/Notifications section and update as needed.

Archiving Links

You can archive a link that is no longer in use to streamline your Links view. Whether the Link was created for testing, linked to a former employee, or simply no longer relevant, proper archiving helps maintain an organized, efficient, and secure "Links" view.

⚙️ To Archive a Link:

  1. Navigate to the Forms section.
  2. Select the Form you want to archive Link(s) for.
  3. Switch over to the Links tab within the form.
  4. Select Settings next to the Link you'd like to archive.
  5. Select Archive.

To access archived Links, select Show Archived Links.

Sharing Links

SALT offers several ways to share a Form’s Links, outlined below.

When using the quick-share modules, simply select the desired Form & Link from the dropdown menus. You can then copy the URL, download the QR code, or share it directly via email or social media.

Sharing options are accessible from your SALT home page, the Forms section, or directly within a Form’s Links tab.

🧂SALTY TIP: Exposure Stats will be displayed in the "Share" module on the home page as well as within a Form's "Links" tab, identifying how many starts and completed submissions are associated with that Link.

Recommendations & Best Practices

[Reminders & Confirmations Are Not Link-Specific]

The content and timing of Reminder & Confirmation messages are configured at the Form level, not per individual Link. If you need a different schedule for a specific use case, you’ll need to create a separate Form with the appropriate settings.

[Streamlining Your Forms with Links]

With the introduction of Links, our recommended best practice is to consolidate your existing SALT Forms into a single master Form. From there, you can create individual Links tailored to specific use cases—such as individual producers, referral partners, or other agency needs.

If you currently manage a large number of Forms and the idea of consolidating feels overwhelming, feel free to reach out to our support team. We’re happy to offer guidance and help you explore the best approach for your setup.
