Managing Data Limits for Your Agency
SALT’s Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) integrations—Estated, Fenris, and MeasureOne—use pre-purchased Data Creditsto deliver high-quality data that syncs with your submissions. Because these integrations are optional and usage-based, we’ve built in a safeguard to help agencies manage their monthly data usage through a feature called the Monthly Limit setting.
What Is a Monthly Limit?
The Monthly Limit is a setting that allows your agency to define how many data requests are allowed per month for each integration. Once the limit is reached, SALT will automatically prevent additional requests from being made—helping you control your costs and avoid unintentional credit use.
You can set monthly limits independently for:
- Estated (property data)
- Fenris (auto/driver data)
- MeasureOne (declarations page retrieval)
For example:
If your team wants to limit Estated usage to $20/month, you would set the Estated monthly limit to 20 requests, since each request costs 0.8 credits (rounded up per request).
How to Set or Adjust a Monthly Limit
- Navigate to the Integrations section of your SALT account.
- Locate the integration you’d like to manage (Estated, Fenris, or MeasureOne).
- Click the ⚙️ settings icon, then select “Adjust Monthly Limit.”
- Enter the maximum number of requests you’d like to allow each month.
- Save your changes. SALT will enforce this cap automatically.
Note: Only Admin or Owner roles can update monthly limits.
What Happens When My Monthly Limit Is Reached?
SALT will notify your agency as your data usage approaches and reaches the set threshold. Specifically:
- Approaching Limit – You’re nearing your monthly cap.
- Limit Reached – Your cap has been met; no additional requests will be processed.
- Limit Exceeded – This rare notification indicates a system issue where usage exceeded your set limit. This is extremely unlikely, but built in to protect you and alert our team.
What If I Don’t Set a Limit?
By default, each integration is set to allow up to 100 data requests per month. However, we strongly recommend customizing this based on your agency’s volume and budget.
Example:
If your form is embedded in a high-traffic campaign or your team conducts bulk outreach, a high number of submissions could trigger hundreds—or thousands—of data requests. Monthly limits ensure your agency is not caught off guard by unexpected charges.
Best Practices
- Set conservative limits first, then increase as your workflow becomes more predictable.
- Review usage regularly from your Billing section to align limits with performance and volume.
- Train your team to recognize which fields and actions trigger Estated, Fenris, or MeasureOne data pulls, so they can use the tools intentionally.
