Managing user seats

Each plan includes a baseline number of user seats. To grow beyond the included count, add seats as an add-on. Removing a user frees the seat for another invitation.

In short: Add seats from billing as needed. Remove a user from your account to free their seat for someone else.

Why seats exist

Seats are how SALT prices for the size of your team. Each teammate who can sign in to your agency consumes one seat.

The included seat count varies by plan:

  • Propel includes 1-5 seats
  • Propel+ includes up to 10
  • Middle Market includes up to 15
  • Custom is negotiated

To grow beyond the included number, buy additional seats as an add-on.

Add seats

  1. 1

    Open your agency’s billing settings.

  2. 2

    Find the user seats section.

  3. 3

Add the number of seats you need.

  4. 4

Confirm — the additional charge is added to your subscription (prorated for the current cycle).

  5. 5

New seats are immediately available for invitations.

Why “seat limit reached” appears on invitation

If inviting a new user fails with a seat-limit error:

  • You’re at your current cap (included seats + add-ons)
  • Either remove an existing user (frees a seat) or buy more seats

The error tells you which.

Remove a user

When a teammate leaves the agency or no longer needs SALT access:

  1. 1

    Open your users settings.

  2. 2

    Find the user.

  3. 3

Remove them from the agency — see Removing a user for the full flow.

  4. 4

    Their seat is freed immediately.

Reducing seats

If you have more seats than you need, you can reduce the seat count:

  • Confirm your current user count is below the new target
  • Adjust the seat add-on count down
  • Billing reflects the lower count on the next cycle (prorated against the current cycle)

Common questions

What about staff/admin users — do they count toward my seats? Internal SALT staff (support agents masquerading temporarily) don’t count against your seat allocation. Standard agency users do.

Can I temporarily disable a user without freeing their seat? Some configurations support disabling sign-in without removing the user from the agency. The seat is still consumed. To free the seat, remove them from the agency — see Removing a user.

Why did my seat count go up unexpectedly? Auto-add-on rules (where supported) can add seats automatically when you go over the included count, with a billing adjustment. Check the recent invoice for the change.
